Here we go again.

I'm on the eastern edge of the strike area, but those poor people in the Pensacola area are probably going to get smacked again. Many over there still have blue tarps for roofs courtesy of Ivan. I'm expecting telephone calls tonight from friends west of me looking for a place to ride out the storm.

Time to go to Sam's for booze, tarps, plywood and propane. 10-12 people cooped up in a house, possibly without power, is going to make alcohol pretty much necessary.

If Dennis swings further west and hits New Orleans head on, the city is done. Don't bother making Mardi Gras plans next year or any year.

Good luck Strel ;)

I'm the one having the hurricane party!!! Don't worry about me! This is like my 12th hurricane, I think. I stopped counting.

I'll be fine. We are on the north side of Tallahassee and pretty well up a hill. The only danger is one of the trees falling on part of the house. People here are gassing up and buying up all the bottled water, expecting temporary power loss...but there is always the chance of a tornado. The real challenge is going to be keeping everyone entertained, fed and liquored up for two days.

Hopefully it will weaken a bit battering the commies around in Cuba - but even if it does it will undoubtedly restrengthen once it gets into the Gulf. We are expecting a strong 3 to strong 4, but a 5 is not out of the question.

I'll ride out a direct hit from a Cat 1 or two. I might think about riding out a 3 depending on where it hits. A direct hit (east side of the eye) from a 3 is dicey...and forget about a 4 or 5. If it hits anywhere west of Panama City I'm staying put regardless.

Yep... So I come to Europe and escape the storm, only to read news of a massive terrorist attack right next door. Exciting! I hope my dogs are alright...
