“[They] might have nuclear bombs but we have the children bomb, and these human bombs must continue until liberation.” – Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi.
When British immigrant Sheikh Qaradawi uttered these words, he had Israel, not his adopted base-of-operations, in mind; however, yesterday’s events underscored their prescience. How they contrast with the bluster of London’s pro-Islamist mayor, “Red” Ken Livingstone, who boldly told terrorists, “whatever you do, however many you kill, you will fail.” The fact that Livingstone recently “hosted” and embraced Sheikh Qaradawi, defending him from charges of extremism while calling George W. Bush “the greatest threat to life on this planet,” further illustrates the self-destructive indulgence of the Left’s Unholy Alliance with radical Islam. The fact that al-Qaeda killed nearly 40 people yesterday morning in a series of Israeli-style bus bombings in order to drive Europeans out of Iraq illuminates the critical facts facing the nations of the democratic West.
snip
Fact #1: The war on Iraq is not a distraction from the War on Terror; it is the War on Terror – and al-Qaeda will stop at nothing to end it.
snip
Fact #2: Appeasing terrorists cannot buy peace.
snip
Fact #3: The enemy isn’t just “Bin Laden.”
snip
Fact #4: Unbridled immigration and tolerance of radical Islam is hazardous.
snip
Fact #5: The modern Left has become so consumed with hatred of the West that it embraces its would-be destroyers.

Enough is Enough
We’ve all heard those on the left bleat, time and time again, "if we address the root causes of terrorism it will fade away."
I agree with them.
What are the "root causes" of today’s terrorism and how should the civilized world address them? Beyond all the hand-wringing, self-flagellation and delusional thinking the West inflicts upon itself lies the answer to the first question: radical Islam is the root cause.
In attempting to turn the clock back to the 7th century, the disciples of radical Islam have engaged in at least 30 years of kidnappings, bombings, beheadings, mass-murder and social and religious intolerance-always in the name of "Allah," always aimed at the West or at those who aspire to Western ideals.
As yesterday’s events in London show, there’s no end in sight to this rampage.
Unfortunately, the West still doesn’t "get it." Lacking the guts to face the simple truth about terrorism’s "root cause", it instead cowers behind its own self-abuse and revels in its selective sanctimonious sensitivities. It is certain that as the London bombings fade into the past, the West will continue its sickening hand-wringing and its denial of Islamist reality. Only when one of its cities is nuked into oblivion will it possibly be cured of its delusions.
Islam is not a "religion of peace," any more than Christianity or Judaism or Wicca are religions of peace. All are simply religions and it is up to their practitioners to practice them peacefully. But in the case of Islam, a religion/ideology born of a desert warrior class steeped in violence and ruthlessness, the temptation to use its teachings to justify violence and extreme forms of intolerance is omnipresent. Today’s terrorism is caused by those who surrender to that temptation.
Have Islamists said that they kill to bring attention to the poverty of the soul that inflicts the cultures they rise from?-never. Have they said that they kill for liberty, for equality or to rise from economic oppression?-never.
What they want is the total submission of mankind to Islam and they’ve made this point perfectly clear both in word and in deed.
Hussein Massawi, a former leader of Hezbollah, says, "We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you."
The London bombing presents a prime opportunity for the West to finally swallow its politically correct platitudes and self-hating attitudes and take men like Massawi at face value. It’s time for the West to "take off the gloves" and declare total war against Islamists and all of the countries that support them (never mind defiling the Koran) or it will die a protracted and horrible death.
There is no excuse for not ending the Islamist Reign of Terror now. Islamists might have Allah, but we have The Bomb. When Tehran acquires nuclear weapons, this advantage will be lost. Then the West will be forced to eat the poisoned fruits of its self-doubt and self-hatred by confronting the specter of slavery. Ask the French.
It’s time to get serious.

And I'll answer that with...
WE CAN TAKE IT
8 July 2005
If these murderous bastards go on for a thousand years, the people of our islands will never be cowed
LONDON can take it. That's what they said - our parents and our grandparents - when the murderous bullies of another age were attempting to bomb them into submission.
When the maimed and the dead were being pulled from the rubble, and the survivors were meant to curl up and surrender.
London can take it.
I was sitting in a little cafe in North London yesterday when the news came through. You know how it works - that horrible echo of 9/11 - when suddenly all anyone craves is news.
And your first thoughts are selfish. Of course they are. Where is this son? Where is that loved one? Where is the friend who works next to that bomb blast, the neighbour who would have been on that train, the relative who walks down that street?
Did they survive? Are they OK? The phone lines are jammed, the hospitals are overflowing and when you step into the street all you hear are the sirens, like birdsong from hell...
Let us seek the men who did this - let us hunt them down and destroy. But more than that, let us send out the message that they famously hung on the front of a destroyed shopfront in the London of the Blitz - business as normal. Three little words that said: Up yours, Adolf.

I've specifically quoted from one of Britain's tabloids because it's more widely read than any of the broadsheets I could quote from.
There's a chant that's very popular on the football terraces all over my country.
COME AND HAVE A GO IF YOU THINK YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH!
We'll never be defeated by people who hide in the shadows.

I find it interesting that the first thing the extreme right does after an attack (as long as it's a target they care about, that is), is lash out with yet more divisiveness toward the only allies in this fight they've got - the left.
What will it take to make you guys understand that this kind of mentality is exactly what the terrorists want?

You brits have intestinal fortitude
If I may quote one of your Great leaders
"What kind of a people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realise that we shall never cease to persevere against them until they have been taught a lesson which they and the world will never forget?" -- Winston Churchill
"We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea and air--war with all our might and with all the strength God has given us--and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy." -- Winston Churchill
"We (The British) have not journeyed across the centuries, across the oceans, across the mountains, across the prairies, because we are made of sugar candy." -- Winston Churchill
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." -- Winston Churchill

When wil you and many other American members of this forum stop bangin on about bloody politics at a time like this?!!
You guys need to realise and accept that us Brits are very different to you.
It's not about right and left. It's about right and wrong!
It's stuff all to do with politics race and religion to us. It's about the living and the dead. The survivors and the evil gits who did this.
What has made me more sick than almost anything else I've witnessed in the last two days it's what I've read here from self rightous people who think they can speak for us. People who bang on about we should deport all Muslims and we're soft on Islam.
One lesson to learn is that we're used to it and we WILL get over it!
It's nothing new!

I was going to bite my tongue but **** it I am pissed now.
Spare me your indignation, the whole world including yourself at times bangs on about what the USA should or should not do all the time so stop with the hypocracy. For your info I never said you should deport all muslims from the UK. Please school me and show me where I said I speak for you
And when the Far Left stops embracing and making excuses for radical Islamists maybe we can take the politics out of it, until then I will point out thier bull****, but oh you dont mind the far left banging on about stuff.
The Brits are our closest ally, an attack on them is like an attack on us.
BTW Americans and Brits are not really so very different in things that matter.

Maybe the lesson here is to be learned from the Brits and how they react to this attack rather than commentary written by opportunistic, partisan hacks in the U.S.
Just a thought.

"Partisan hacks" is an open phrase. It applies to hacks from both sides.
Maybe you should stop lumping everyone together?

Obviously you have not read or ignore the rants in the leftist media and blogosphere. And that's exactly where you're going wrong!
Go looking for trouble and you'll find it!
Go looking for the opposite opinion and you'll find that too!
I'm taking all my thoughts and feelings from my colleagues and friends who've spent the last two days searching for news of their loved ones. I'm taking my comments from the people who were involved in these blasts, not from over paid pen pushing idiots who's only desire is to fill copy.
You ask Londoners how they feel.
It's not about politics. It was always going to happen, and now it has.
We knew it was going to happen, we just didn't know when. That's the price of having a free and open society.
The Nazis couldn't bomb us into submission.
The IRA couldn't bomb us into submission.
And a bunch of extremists hiding in the shadows will never bomb us into submission.
There is no political gain to be gleaned from this.
I'm a business travel consultant. Along with my colleagues, I've spent the last two days talking to our clients and hotels directly affected by these bombs and spent yesterday arranging emergency accomodation in the city for them.
Yes it's shocking!
Yes it's disgusting!
But nothing changes...
EDIT: Just for your information, the article I quoted earlier in this thread comes from the most left wing mainstream newspaper in Britain.
