Common sense and logic surrenders.
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Parents who were charged with child abuse last August have been exonerated and reunited with their children.
Charbel Hamaty was charged with sexually assaulting his newborn son, and Teresa Hamaty was arrested for taking sexually explicit pictures.
The couple describe the ordeal as a "nightmare" that started over a roll of film that Charbel Hamaty dropped off at a north Raleigh Eckerd.
The photo that raised alarms shows a naked Kristoff, now 16-months-old, getting a kiss from his father on the belly button, Teresa Hamaty said.
When the photos were shown to the police, the couple was arrested, and Kristoff was put in protective custody, while his half-sister, Victoria, was handed over to her birth father.

Well, I guess I'm a sex offender too, then, because I've kissed my daughter on the belly many times. It's one of the most reliable ways to make her giggle. I can see how some photo-store clerk might project their own dirty thoughts onto a picture of someone else doing that, but nobody with any sense would consider it anything but a harmless and healthy kind of play.
Fortunately I take all my pictures digitally, so I don't need to rely on morons and perverts to develop them. That clerk is the one who should be under observation.
dittohead not!

At least the story had a happy ending. I wonder who had the common sense to exonerate the parents?

But the guy was in jail for 6 months?!
I'm not a parent, but I've seen parents do that to a kid lots of times. Sheesh

These type of stories disgust me. All it takes is one person to suggest sex offender and the pack goes into a widespread panic.
]I remember watching the news years ago about how a Principal was charged with sexual assault. The News Cameras were at the school at parents were dragging their kids out of school. The principal wasn't even at the school and there were droves of parents in a panic who said they were taking their kids out of that school. The follow-up story which was hardly mentioned was that a grade 7 girl made the whole thing up because she was mad at him. The damage was already done.
Another story that irks me is when I was working at a daycare there was a parent I was talking to and she told me a story about how her 3 year old daughter told her that a male daycare worker touched her in her private area. Without getting the whole story the parent panicked. She called the police and marched into the supervisor's office demanding they fire the sex offender. Other parents got word of this and kids were pulled out of the daycare. It wasn't known until the next day that the worker touched the child on the shoulder. When the child was asked why that would be considered private the child responded "my mommy said don't let anyone touch me where mt bathing suit covers me" The police officer deducted that the child was thinking of the bathing suit straps. Regardless the damage was done.
