The scumbags in the ACLU have lost their battle agianst the boyscouts.Even the liberal politicians even voted on the side of the boyscouts.Has hell frozen over?

http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid19165.asp
In a 98-0 vote, the Senate approved the provision as part of massive bill setting Defense Department policy for next year. Senate majority leader Bill Frist, a former Boy Scout who sponsored the Senate provision, said it is necessary to push back on a spate of lawsuits to limit Boy Scout activities on government property. The provision adopted Tuesday says Boy Scouts should be treated the same as other national youth organizations. Frist said that the provision "removes any doubt that federal agencies may welcome Scouts to hold meetings, go camping on federal property, or hold scouting events and public forums" on government property.

In 1999 the ACLU of Illinois filed a lawsuit claiming that the Pentagon's sponsorship of such Boy Scout activities violates the First Amendment. The ACLU argues that direct government sponsorship of the group amounts to discrimination. Civil liberties advocates have assailed the Boy Scouts organization because it bars openly gay leaders and compels members to swear an oath of duty to God.

I would like to take this moment and say "Ha Ha you scum in the ACLU have lost, even the liberals in the white house told you to piss off" Although I speculate the liberals in the whitehouse only voted in favor of the boy scouts
to not lose voters.

So the questions I would like answered and debated on this thread are the following

Do you support or not support the senate's decision and why?

What reasons do you think why the senate on both sides supported the Boy Scouts?

Do you support or not support the ACLU's vicious vandetta against the Boy Scouts and why?

I'd say spending money on the Boy Scouts as part of a defense bill is kind of a waste of money when we've got wide open borders (not that anyone is going to fix it anyway), but it doesn't bother me.

The loyalty oath I can't remember being any more significant than the Under God part of the Pledge. The fire and the knives were much more important :D

I would have to say it is much better than dumping billions on other countries in the form of forign aid.

the ACLU needs to leave bot scouts alone. Though it was founded on relgious values, it no longer is based around them--it's based around teaching kids handy things that they will use the rest of their lives.

Yes liked tying knots... and how to whittle... or maybe how to stand at attention...

That's all I remember doing in my short time as a boyscout...

You didn't get very far I guess. I learned how to build fires with minimum materials in adverse conditons, canoe, kayak, shoot guns, shoot bows, cook on a fire, how to make a shelter if lost in the woods, and more!

You clearly didn't have the right kind of leaders.

Take the Boy Scout Law, for example:

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Curteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Or some of the badges that are Required to earn Eagle Scout:

Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Personal Management, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, and Family Life.

Not exactly a laundry list of camping, whittling, or basket weaving, is it?

i'll grant that my experience is probably the exception rather than the rule. I just have some left over bitterness because of my own bad experiences. When you're at the archery range, and the scoutmaster's son points a drawn bow at your head and everyone laughs, it kind of turns one off to the whole thing.
