Detectives are trying to trace three hooded youths seen entering a block of flats where three people were tied up and shot dead in their own home.
Police want to speak to the youths after the triple murder in a two bedroom flat in Clark Court, Stonebridge, near Wembley in north west London.
Nine-month old Christiano Morrison was the only person alive when a family friend walked in to find the bodies of sisters Lorna and Connie Morrison, 34 and 27, and their mother's partner Noel Patterson, 62.
The three were killed during an 18 hour period between 8.30pm on Thursday and 2.30pm on Friday when a friend found the door unlocked and went in to find the three bodies in a bedroom.
Although neighbours spoke of hearing shots on Thursday night, no-one called police.
Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson said the sisters' mother, Evelyn Daley, was out working overnight as a carer nearby when the killings happened.
The family friend rushed to contact the sisters' mother before they called police.
They handed over the unharmed baby to officers. He is now in the care of the local authority.
Police describe Mr Patterson, a cleaner, as well-liked in the area. Local people said he went by the nickname "Fisherman".
Although police have yet to carry out a close inspection of the bodies as forensic searches took place, the scene indicated that the three were shot in the upper body, probably the head, with a semi-automatic weapon.
It is not known how many guns may have been involved.
According to police, residents' accounts of how many shots were fired and the precise time of the attack also differed.
Mr Richardson said there had been no suggestion that the three had been tortured before their murders, but did not rule out the possibility.
Now this crap is happening in England, holy bugger.
