No Charges Expected in Britney Incident
Wednesday, February 08, 2006

LOS ANGELES — Authorities were investigating an incident in which Britney Spears was photographed driving with her infant son on her lap, but didn't intend to pursue charges against the pop star, officials said.

...

"Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," he said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction."

Several photos published Tuesday showed Spears driving with her son, Sean Preston, perched on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat. Spears said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."

The photos show Spears holding the wheel of the car with one hand, and her 4-month-old baby in the other. A person is shown sitting in the passenger seat next to Spears.

Is this one brain-dead little superstar, or what?!!? There is a pic going around the paparrazi took of her driving with her baby on her lap. Imagine had she hit something and the airbag deployed.

That boring little talentless tart is so stupid. Ya, blame the paparazzi. If it weren't for them she wouldn't have a career doing her lip-synching schtick.

Too bad there weren't more grrls like Avril Lavigne. Teenage girls need to be taught how to stick up for and respect themselves, not to be spoiled selfish sluts.

Fascinating, the way celebrities have managed to turn unwanted paparazzi into an issue and a cause. This has been a brilliant PR move.

I wouldn't want to be harassed and bothered either, but let's be realistic: celebrity image is stage-managed, fed to us in carefully concocted bits favorable to the celebrities. THEY are the ones who have created the feeding frenzy, carefully manipulating the public to always WANT more and more of them.

It's getting tiresome, listening to the teen queens *****ing about how the devil made them do it.

I looked after a baby that had been carried on the mother's lap until they had an accident and then the child shot out of the car.

Baby was brain dead.

I it one of my worse memories.

Well, for one, she's a musician and actually sings when she performs. And two, I think she's a better role model in that she appeals to teenagers on an angst-ridden level (something a lot of teenagers can relate to), and she sings about being self-reliant, a quality which all kids should develop. I like her laid-back, punk attitude as well.

I suppose it comes down to taste, but I would rather my kid listen to a rocker than some ditzy pop tart like Spears or, even worse, Christine (aaiii-EEEE-ohohoh-WHOAAAAAA-wowowo-eeeeee-AAAAYAYYAYYAY-eeee-AIIII) Aguillera. ;)

Plus, Lavigne has a kickass song on the SpongeBob movie soundtrack. I can't imagine SpongeBob and Patrick wasting their time listening to the crap that Spears churns out.

i hate her punk rock attitude and the songs ain't much better than others in pop music. if i have a kid, i would rather they listen to real singer like norah jones.
okay, you have a point about SpongeBob, but good people (or underwater creatures, if they count as creatures  ) make mistakes too chuk.
