Boortz: Rep. McKinney "looks like a ghetto slut"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200603310005
On the March 31 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, Neal Boortz said that Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) "looks like a ghetto slut." Boortz was commenting on a March 29 incident in which McKinney allegedly struck a police officer at a Capitol Hill security checkpoint. Boortz said that McKinney's "new hair-do" makes her look "like a ghetto slut," like "an explosion at a Brillo pad factory," like "Tina Turner peeing on an electric fence," and like "a shih tzu." McKinney is the first African-American woman elected to Congress from Georgia.
From the March 31 broadcast of Cox Radio Syndication's The Neal Boortz Show, with producer Belinda Skelton and talk radio host Royal Marshall:
BOORTZ: For instance, or for goodness sakes, jump in and I'm gonna say -- I'm gonna start out with something controversial. I saw Cynthia McKinney's new hair-do. Have you seen it, Belinda?
SKELTON: No.
BOORTZ: She looks like a ghetto slut.
SKELTON: Well, how is it?
BOORTZ: It's just -- it's hideous.
SKELTON: Is it braided? Or --
BOORTZ: No, it's not braided. It just flies away from her head in every conceivable direction. It looks like an explosion in a Brillo pad factory. It's just hideous. To me, that hairstyle just shows contempt for -- no, it's not an Afro. I mean, no, it just shows contempt for the position that she holds and the body that she serves in. And, I'm sorry, there's just no other way to -- it's just a hideous and horrible looking --
MARSHALL: Her hairstyle?
BOORTZ: Yeah, the hairstyle. It just, it looks like an explosion. Have you seen it?
MARSHALL: Yeah, I like it.
BOORTZ: Oh, jeez.
MARSHALL: It looks better than the braids she was wearing.
BOORTZ: No, the braids had some dignity. They had some class.
MARSHALL: The braids had dignity?
BOORTZ: They had more class than this thing.
MARSHALL: This says, you know, kinda 2000s, you know, stepping up to the plate. Contemporary look, you know?
BOORTZ: She looks like Tina Turner peeing on an electric fence.
MARSHALL: OK, so you don't like her hair.
BOORTZ: Yeah, OK, I don't like her hair. I'm sorry.
MARSHALL: That being said, I think a lot of people would say it looks a lot better than those cornrows she was wearing. You can't tell me that's dignified.
BOORTZ: Well, I'm not a big cornrow fan but I got used to her with that. OK?
MARSHALL: So she's staying the same for you?
BOORTZ: She looks like a shih tzu!
MARSHALL: I like Cynthia's new hairstyle.
BOORTZ: Well, there you go. Differing opinions.
Boortz posted similar comments on the "Neal's Nuze" section of his website, in which he said McKinney "looks like ghetto trash." From Boortz's website:
It doesn't look like the latest Cynthia McKinney mess is going to go away any time soon. Today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the Capitol Hill police have notified the federal prosecutor's office in Washington that they are going to seek an arrest warrant for McKinney next week. OK, Now I've seen Cynthia McKinney's new hairstyle. There is just no other way to say this. It's just hideous. She looks like ghetto trash. Get a braider over there ... quick! Nobody with a modicum of self-respect would go around looking like that. And don't give me any stuff for saying this. I've endured years of "bald" remarks. I'm entitled.

This does seem to be a rather odd thing for someone who lives in Australia to care about. I think the USA has a lot more to worry about then some no-name radio hack.

Why? Cause it's such a notorious liberal loving board?
I've never been a fan of McKinney, and if they prosecute her and find her guilty, I too hope they chuck her out. Having said that, I certainly think the comments about her hairstyle are a bit out of bounds, don't you?

Yes, the issue is McKinney and not Neal Boortz. I believe this thread was started to help justify why McKinney allegedly assaulted a police officer.
Neal Boortz is a local (to Atlanta) radio talk show host with very high ratings. Atlanta is a big market and he is carried elsewhere with high ratings as well. So to say he is a no name hack is incorrect. His ratings are much better than the highly touted Air America. Also, if you look on his web site today you will notice that he has appologized for his comment. I wonder if McKinney will appolized for hitting the police officer.

Boertz was being sophomoric for sure. But I'd rather be accused of looking awful than being labeled a racist for doing my job, as far as acts of decency go.

I guess the so-called conservative shock jocks have taken the lead in the self-defecation contest. And when did the Capitol Police become such wimps? I personally can’t see my police officer grandfather making a big deal out of getting slugged by a 50-year-old woman.
But anything to keep from talking about the issues…
Maybe next week they will catch another Democrat j-walking

I'm sorry but other than the ghetto slut comment the other ones were the funniest thing I've ever read. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I lean left but she's no one I would want representing me. It's obvious she's a bigger racist then anyone I have ever met in my lifetime and I've met some real winners. I've known some blacks that put whites to shame when it comes to being predjudice and racist. It's not limited to white folks.
Brillo Pad explosion!
Tina Turn peeing on an electric fence!

I believe in the business its called incidental contact. You grab someone from behind; they swing around and hit you with their elbow. I don’t know what happened and I haven’t read a police report that presents the officers point of view or have a seen any tape. But I’m hard pressed to believe the officer was injured in any way. On a side note, its nice to know the folks charged with protecting Congress can’t recognize a woman who has worked in the same place and most likely entered through the same door for 16 years. I’m sure race had nothing to do with it and politics had nothing to do with the reaction.

True you shouldn't make fun of how people look but I was just stating my reaction. I laughed so hard I had a hard time reading it to my wife! I honestly don't think the comments other than "Ghetto Slut" were racist.
Having attended an inner city school in the Detroit area (they just had a riot before I arrived) while my dad was an ROTC instructor just before he retired from the military, I've got Congresswoman McKinney pegged. I remember once getting slammed into a locker because I accidentely brushed against a black girl. I also have had my share of blacks screaming the race card in the military when you came down on them for neglecting their duties.

Alot of crapp on this thread.
Just so happens that Mckinney is one of the few people who has the guts to ask Rumsfeld and General Myers about the wargames going on the morning of 9/11.
And to ask Rumsfeld why the Pentagon continues to do business with a company like Dyncorp, who is involved in the trafficking of children as sex slaves.
Or to account for the trillions of dollars the Pentagon "misplaced".
Why are we as Americans to stupid to be able to identify a real warrior?
And p.s. Love hearing about all the horrible things the white people have endured, keep it up!

Remember she also thinks Bush was directly responsible for 9/11. I despise Bush and his administration but that's just plain dumb.
I've lived, worked, and been educated with all kinds of races and seen a lot of things in my lifetime and I know a fool and a racist when I see one. I just tell it like I see it and McKinney is a racist.
I don't make excuses for people that act like fools regardless of their race. End of story.

Well obviously she couldn’t beyond the fact that he didn’t recognize her. We have to be honest and admit that racism is a two way street but on the whole blacks and Hispanics are more often the victim. The down side of playing the racism card is Americans of all races seem to despise victims.
