For the next 10 days and 10 days in the summer they are filming Spiderman 3 in front of my office building. It looks like they are getting ready to blow up/destroy some cars. Its pretty cool to watch

Right, Joe ... and Batman's outside my office window right now. And Cat Woman and Aquaman and the Fantastic Four, all of them super-duper heroes right there ... ;)

The problem with watching movies being made, is that for most of the time, watching is a lot like watching paint dry.
When I lived in Orlando, they filmed the opening sequence for "Lethal Weapon 3" downtown. Orlando had an old city administrrative building they were going to implode, and the movie people used it for the scene where Gibson and Glover just get out of a building with a huge bomb in it.
Three or four takes of them running out of the building, (about 7pm) while special effects guys set off small explosions behind them to show how close they were to being dead. Several hours, (about 10pm) and another special effects team later, much bigger booms, filmed from half a block away that looks like it'll level the building.
Still several hours later (about 2am, actually), and the real demolition team implodes the building, and that's filmed from several angles as well. Then, bring back Gibson and Glover, before the dust completely settles, to do a couple more minutes across the street from the now demolished building.
All that waiting around, and effort for about 3 minutes of total screen action if that. Sheesh. Hope you get to see a little more than that, GI Joe.

Obviously I wont see Toby Mcguire swinging from buildings, because that is all computer generated but watching the set up is amazing, they have converted empty storefronts to phony businesses such as Jewish Deli's, Clothing district type places, Art Galleries and other NY looking places. It is supposed to take place in NY so there is also a huge sign for 3 bedroom lofts for $6.5 million. It is taking place on about 13 city blocks and I have a good view of a lot of it from my corner office.
They actually have filmed quite a few films in Cleveland due to the cost and the willingness of the City to cooperate like Air Force One, American Splendor, Antwone Fisher, Christmas Story, The Deer Hunter, Major League, Welcome to Collinwood,Happy Gilmore and quite a few others. But this is the first where it was right outside my office

Oh yeah? Be sure to tell Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst and the guy who plays J. Jonah Jameson that they suck. The guy who played Doc Oc was cool though! :D
You must be joking. The guy who plays J. Jonah Jameson is PERFECT at it.

No, I'm not kidding. J. Jonah Jameson wasn't a wisecracker. He was more of an irrational, angry guy who had it in for Spidey.
Oh. I don't really care how things were in the comics, never read them. As it is though, he's a scene stealer.

I understand about the time thing---I saw somewhere that the about-3-minute chase scene in Bullitt took 2 six-day weeks of shooting 12 hours a day.
It was worth it, though...best chase scene ever. :)
I nearly fell asleep watching Bullitt. I was pretty tired though, so it might not be the movies fault.

If you fell asleep between the time the guys in the Charger pull on their seat belts & the end of the chase, please have a doctor check your pulse. :p Not really a great movie, but an absolutely spectacular chase.
