Exactly who are you on Pravda?

I think it's highly unlikely.
But even if it is, what the heck?
Zion refers to an ideaology that isn't strictly Jewish.
It's a concept of a Utopian place.

Let's leave all that jew talk over at Pravda, how about it?
Nobody here cares about bashing jews.
Not to say that this thread is bashing jews, but we all know where it is headed.

Yes. Let's just leave it there, shall we? Unlike Pravda, I can stop this right now. Sorry to be heavy handed but we're not going to go down that road.

I know a little bit about Hollywood, let me answer him. Back in the 20s and 30s yes the studios were owned and run by many European Jews who had migrated here from their homes where they had been forced out. They were workers and designers and soon the movies were with sound and then with color. In the 40s I became a part of this because my father was a finance planner for Hal Roach studios and my mother was a studio musician. I was called in many time as an extra because I could take direction. My email address is a camera angle.....
After WW2 another wave of Jewish immigrants ended up in Hollywood and the movies showed their talents: many behind the cameras and many up in the rafters doing lights and sounds. the biggest advantage were the actors who had found a place where they didn't have to fear the Nazis coming in to take them away.
Captain, our original sound technicions and music directors were Jews who could hardly speak english but the musicians could follow them and everyone love what they brought. Take a look at who wrote the sound tracks from those old goodies and you won't find a non-Jewish name. They could actually work with their own names.
I believe the question may have had to do with their politics within the studios. Well I can tell you that very few of the cast or crew were involved in the Commie hunts that were so popular at that time. When C.B. DeMille was filming his biblical films, he found a newly arrived Jewish woman from Russia who was a scholar in the old and new testament and was hired by DeMille to watch for any Communist messages. Her name was Ayn Rand!!!
I was sent to a private boarding school in Holmby Hills and it was great fun as it was the girl's school for all the Hollywood stars, producers and directors. Were they Jewish? I'm not sure as it was never an issue. Norma Shearer? Spencer Tracy? Joan Bennett? I knew their girls and never once was aware of their religion.
I will say this; Hollywood was inspired and developed under these talented Jewish people who were so grateful to find a place where they could do their thing without fear. Broadway was also the place where many excellent writers and musicians landed.
Does this answer your question?
Well put, Sandy. Personally, I worry more about the politics of the actors than the religion of the directors and producers - especially when the actors are out from in front of the cameras.

Goodness, aren't you giving more clout to the actors than they deserve?. Most of them can't go to the bathroom without a script. I think that most of them have a problem with their own dialog. Even in public most of them speak only when spoken to.
Politically they are pawns to the Liberals because for the first time in their lives they have more money than they know what to do with. They are just plain guilty and feel they all must follow the Liberal leader where ever it leads them; somehow it feels good.
During the Commie problem in Hollywood the threat was very real. If a script got changed and the director caught it he was sometimes found sitting in a broken chair or a light would fall on him. The vandalism was terrible and many sets were closed to try to keep the set and actors safe. If you remember the films made at that time, the American heroes were always the subject and ended up saving the story. This is what Americans wanted after WW2. Some of them were tear jerkers but they always had happy endings. It was hard to keep this going with the influence of the Commies surrounding them. We had very strong studio heads and they made their decisions known.
With the studios now owned by foreign companies the pictures are often just remakes of older films. Some are absolutely dreadful and I quit going years ago. I do make the acception when one of my son's films is showing somewhere. He did an Imax production on the Shuttle history and I couldn't find a large theater where I was living.

Thank You Sandy. I've seen this question raised over and over again.....but mostly answered by someone with an "agenda". Not that it really matters what the % is, just curiosity.
Another good post, Sandy.
Except for the Imax production of the descent to the Titanic, the last time I was in a movie theater was sometime in the late seventies. I think it was "Animal House".~

You're as bad as I am! I'm a reader and have at least 2 books going at all times. I would rather read than beathe. I had my own book store for about 9 years and couldn't sell enough to pay my taxes on the building. Barnes & Nobel opened in the city down the highway and closed me up.
Marve, are you interested in the subject of the history of Hollywood? I remember seeing one years ago that featured the immigrants who started it all. Mayer, Goldwyn, Cohn and hundreds of others who set the studios in action.
