I swear, that was from a study. Sometimes, the jokes just write themselves.
This Modern World:
Anyone who's spent any time reading right wing blogs already understood this to be true:
Lohse, a social work master's student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.
''Bush supporters had significantly less knowledge about current issues, government and politics than those who supported Kerry,'' the study says.
So authoritarian, ill-informed AND severely psychotic? That explains so much to me, especially about FOX News. How about you?

True, laughter could have meant several things. However in this case I just found the story funny. I had no idea of the conflicts that would arise from posting it here. I still see nothing to support all the deja vu talk or being caught in a time loo<disappears>. I'm just a little confused, but atleast I'm not Psychotic.;) Now I know not all of the Bush supporters are Psychotic, but for some reason I can't name one right now.

Around these here parts you gots to be careful how you word things. While saying "Racists tend to vote Republican" is fine, "Republicans are racists." The latter being a solute to General Ization, as well as untrue. General Ization isn't exactly the most popular figure around here (them liberal mods don't support the troops you know) ;).

Kidding around is fine but this is just stupid!:sorry:
The flip side is that leftist democrats are sane because they hate Bush. We know that isn't right.
I suspect there are more republicans who do not support the Bushs than your 'master's STUDENT' took into consideration.
It doesn't matter, the rich and their puppets get elected and we play like our:touche: opinion counts.

You can sorta kinda count me as a Republican, simply because I loathe the Democratic vision of the role of government, and so vote against them the vast majority of the time. But that doesn't mean I think Bush is wonderful, or even that Republicans in general are terrific; rather that I'm stuck with two horrible choices, one of which (to my way of thinking) is somewhat less bad.
What would I really want? Well, how about this?:
* A foreign policy that's not shy about using military force to defend America's interests and spread freedom where realistically possible, but isn't overly ambitious and doesn't bite off more than it can chew.
* A domestic policy that lets people run their own lives, and doesn't stick Uncle Sam's nose into any aspect of them except as required for national security in a dangerous world: that means the gummint doesn't care what we ingest or who we sleep with, and that it doesn't try to redistribute income in a futile attempt to ensure equality of outcomes, nor does it punish success or bury us in a tangle of red tape or in a complex and invasive tax code.
Is that too much to ask? Well, from either of today's major parties it certainly is.

Here's my problem with this site, post, and moderaters. I post a story that's clearly written in jest and the members with-in the site respond in a manner that left me confused. I ask and recieve some input to the conflict that may or may not have happened. I don't know, I don't care. The story is funny. Then a moderater changes my title which was only the title of the story. While it clearly took nothing away from the fact of the story being funny, it did send a clear message on the views that are accepted, or in this case not accepted, with-in the realm of discussion. Now I click in to find the post has been moved from "U.S. & North American Politics" to "Current Events". Why should this bother me or anyone? Simple. While the story was in jest, it could and should have lead to political debates from Republicans and Democrats alike on the misrepresentation of views, the press, and yes our U.S. & North American Political system. The ideas of this is anything but a current event.
My rant is over, and I'll part by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Yes, I know that's not politically correct.;)

I have no response to your complaints. Only the staff knows why they did what they did. It's unknowable to us mere mortals. As for what kind of posts your thread elicited, I think you should've expected them to be rather random, since no one sane (ironically) could take the proposition seriously.

It's the fact that someone did take it seriously. Complained and cried. Than the moderators caved. The fact that someone takes it seriously, tells us a debate is needed if not demanded. I have heard from many people on this post. Not one has stated this offends me and this is why. What the moderators keep claiming is that people are getting offended. Let the accuser come fourth and tell us how. It's with-in the accusers claim a debate can be found.

Alrighty, I understand. But I can't help you there, not being an offended party, or indeed very easily offended at all.
From my perspective it's the lefties who are nuts, but I don't bring that up because I can't think of any way that it would be a constructive discussion.

Sweet mother of God, I thought EQ had come back from the dead when I first saw this. Chosen, let me explain. There was a thread that a member called Equinox created that was the exact same as this one. Some members and the mods thought it was trolling and suspended him for a week. Other members thought differently. So then there was a thread questioning why EQ was banned, and that was eventually deleted. So then I got mad, because censorship is one of those things that makes me mad, and started the Censorship Issues thread in the Announcements, Feedback, and Suggestions forum. EQ handled himself badly after he was unbanned in that thread, and was banned for three months for an accumulation of things, and he'll probably never be seen here again. It was a mess, and I got Towski super-pissed at me. ;) That's why people are on edge about this thread, FYI.

I personally think that the moderating here is very good, but I think some changes need to be made to the moderating process to prevent abuse of power, IMO. If you have a beef with the mods, that's what the Censorship Issues thread is for.
