Accrding to a report in The Independent (http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2081668.ece) there are estimates that Orang utans will be extinct in the wild in 10 years because of the race to make stuff out of Palm oil including bio fuels .
We are destroying our planet for short term gains. We just don't have a freaking clue about how to behave.

It's sad what we're doing to our world...

Agreed - it is so sad. This is what the promise was with carbon trading - it was a way to stop third world countries carving up the rainforests but it is failing miserably.

If all orangs are like that nice Mr. Eastwood's associate Clyde, then good riddance! So rude!

It is really sad, but then do any of us do anything about it? I wonder how many trees were destroyed in the process of producing these computer parts, the electricity, and all the internet gadgetry. I'm as big a hypocrite as the next person. I don't think recycling waste paper is really enough. Ten years is so close though.

And the worst thing to think about is that, while its true that we are destroying our environment, it's possible that in the future we'll have the technology to undo some of that damage, but if the Orang's go extinct, then what are we going to do?
I suppose if cloning is possible in the future, and clones are fertile, that as long as we preserve some genetic coding, we can bring back extinct animals as well....but then we get into conflicting morals...
