The Donald and Rosie Escalate Their Feud
Dec 21, 3:09 PM EST

The Associated Press

Things got even uglier Thursday in the bitter war of words between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell.

The Donald called the Los Angeles-based morning show "Good Day L.A." to sound off on O'Donnell's remarks about his near-firing of Miss USA Tara Conner.

...

She said Trump's news conference with Conner, whose title was in jeopardy because of underage drinking, had annoyed her "on a multitude of levels" and that the twice-divorced Donald had no right to be a "moral compass" for the beauty queen.

"He inherited a lot of money," she said. "Wait a minute, and he's been bankrupt so many times where he didn't have to pay. ... I just think that this man is sort of like one of those, you know, snake oil salesmen in 'Little House on the Prairie.'"

Trump fired back later Wednesday in a TV interview, calling O'Donnell a "slob," among other insults. "I never went bankrupt, but she said I went bankrupt. So probably I'll sue her because it would be fun.

Trump should have consulted his publicist. She actually made some jokes, he just did some name calling, neither deserve much respect for their actions, but Trump clearly was a bit more distasteful.

The Donald obviously has thin skin. Or possibly no skin at all! I would have tried to use a much more mature approach. However, his tirades are aimed at a most deserving target. He cannot say anything she hasn't already earned. I have to catch some View during my week off simply because she is so horrendous it fascinates and amazes me.

I hope they both have plenty more salvos for eachother.

What a sad commentary on American life: Two of our more obnoxious (not to mention least attractive) celebrities, behaving in a manner that would earn my grandson a swat on the behind, and getting ATTENTION for it. Sheesh.

I think Rosie is out of her league. She makes fun of Chinese, which is racist, but she gets away with it because she is liberal and she semi-apoligizes. But calling Trump a snake oil saleman makes her look ignorant. Like him or not Trump has built empires, Rosie has a magazine named after her that went under. No comparrison. She also defamed Trump when she claimed that Trump went bankrupt, He denies this, and if he proves it--which shouldn't be too hard, damage shouldn't be too hard to prove, considering she is on a major network.

I don't care for either one, but I think Rosie can't keep from insulting someone, and I don't think the dishwater of the view is the format, although the ratings should be rising with every gaff by Rosie. How long will B. Walters let her continue? ANother one of the hosts of the show compared Rumsfield to Hitler when discussing Time "man of the Year" just days before Rosie's blunder. My, how politics creeped into the soccermom kingdom.

Look under the section Bankruptcy

Or you could just read his autobiography. The comments made were distasteful, no one can question the accuracy though.

wikipedia has had some credibility issues, which make them suspect to me. I haven't read the autobiography. Are you stating that he admits bakruptcy in it? If so he must be a complete fool, as he was on several major networks the day of or day after claiming he might sue Rosie for claiming that he had been bankrupt. If his baknrupcy could be verified, why whould he do such a stupid thing?

Of course both maybe simply after the publicity.

beg your pardon

Agree. Usually when there is a debate you naturally gravitate to take one of the sides. Kind of like watching a sporting event between two teams you naturally pick one to root for.

But in this case you hope it is like the boxing match where both punch the other out. (in case of a boxing match I give the edge to Rosie)
