This is not meant to be at all inflamatory or break out into non-civil discussion.

First and foremost, I will describe myself. I am non-religious. My mother was a non practicing Jew and my father was a Polish Christian by descent but disavowed them due to rough experiences in Parochial schools. I am a law student and am therefore a skeptic and generally a cynical human being.

I just want to hear some reasoning and or life stories from folks from all sorts of faiths as to why I should adopt some sort of religion, spirituality, or philosophy as my own. After hearing some I will likely question what they are seeing and see where we go from there. Again... be civil, because regardless of what faith we are... we are all human beings.

why I should adopt some sort of religion, spirituality, or philosophy as my own.To have a purpose in life.

If you adopt spirituality or philosophy of your own as your own, your purpose is your own as well.

If, on the other hand, you adopt someone else's spirituality or philosophy, you will serve his purpose, and consequently his interests. That's not recommendable, unless your interests match the purpose of the adopted spirituality. That's usually not the case. So, if someone persuades you to adopt something, always bear in mind, that he's investing his time and effort for a reason.
