This story really disturbs me. Not because I actually care that the Koran is displayed but because of the hypocrisy, double standard, and attack on Christianity in our country today.
Where is the ACLU this time? I am willing to bet we don't hear from them or any of the "Secessionists" on this issue.

What are your thoughts? burn it!
no just kidding.
I would like to know just exactly what person decided to put it there, and why exactly.
I think all Christians should not say anything about it and see what happens.
I also personally it does not bother me.
What does bother me is the US governments bill on Noahide Laws, now that bothers me, they made it legal.

Have you contacted the ACLU of New York to ask them to intervene (http://www.nyclu.org/)? You are aware that the ACLU does not intervene in a case unless they are asked to, right?

No, because like I said I don't care if it is displayed or not. What I care about is the hypocrisy of it.
And to say that they don't intervene unless you ask them to is incorrect. They take many cases by their own will.

BTW, that didn't answer my question. Which you quoted, but failed to answer.

What are your thoughts allan? Hmmm, a reading of the article turned up these quotes:Donna Lieberman, the New York Civil Liberties Union executive director, said no matter what its intentions are, the city can not violate the separation of church and state.Even as recent cases redefine the line, Lieberman said the department's installation is a violation of the constitution officers are sworn to protect.
"It is not always clear where the line is drawn," she said. "But when the government engages in promoting religion that crosses the line."As for the Police Department and its entrenched relationship with religion there has yet to be a case challenging it.
"To my knowledge its never been tested," McCrie said. "There is no precedents for clergyman to effect police policy or procedures in any way. If that were to happen than the issue could be a sore one for the public. We believe as a nation in the separation between church and state."

A copy of the Islamic holy book, the Koran in the lobby of police headquarters in New York City should be removed, and similar religious displays banned from government buildings, an Atheist civil rights group said today.
Allah and the NYPD. (http://www.phxnews.com/fullstory.php?article=7622) :D
