Well, I guess the National Enquirer had it right...

Washington Post Aticle (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10613-2003Oct10.html)

It will be pretty intersting to see how this plays out with his fan base. We know how those who don't like him will play this.

I don't think it will be much of an issue.
If it was a illegal drug problem like cocaine, then his career would probably be over.
But prescriptions for pain medication is handed out like candy by some doctors.
I recall hearing him slurring his words from all the medications they had him on just before he announced that he was losing his hearing.

Except he was getting them through prescription. He was getting them "Illegally." And taking into account his harsh statements against illegal drug use in the past, don't you think he is going to look a bit hypocritical and therefore lessen the effect and importance his words carry with his audiance?

No doubt that his credibility will be damaged.

But it is difficult to think of one public figure that has not been shown to be hypocritical at one time or another?

Just shows that they are human.

MrZero, noone knows if he was getting them illegally. That is just a accuastion.

I think he was a big man to say what he did, admit up to it, and go on.

I agree. I think his core audience will forgive him and his detractors will use it as a rallying cry to discredit him at every opportunity. I hope that more see the human side of the issue though.

Well, the "accusations" seem to be pretty credible thus far. And yes, I agree that for a person in his position, or any person for that matter but especially some one of his stature, to stand up and say that he is flawed took a lot of courage. It is unfortunate that there will be those who smell the blood and go in for the attack.

I think he will be okay. I'm not a fan of his, but I do sympathize with him. Pain killers are handed out too readily, and there are way too many doctors who will simply write a prescription for the right amount of money. He will get help and come back stronger. His ratings will probably even go up.

rush is a junkie. He took perscription medicine illegaly. If they couldnt prove it he would have fought it.

I hope the world moves on in his absence and he cant find us when he returns.

He can never return as he was. Instead of powers on loan from god it will be on loan from pfizer. Half his brain will be not tied behind his back but oozing down the back of his neck, and now papers will be rustled in his formally opium stained fingers.

Kicking Rush around-->

<<--Story Here-->> (http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/8015.htm)

There are things that I always felt that Rush went overboard with that may come back and bite him someday.

The comments he used to make about people who passed away "assuming room temperature" was beyond reason in my opinion.
