As usual, no one is counting how many get killed. The Georgian assault on South Ossetia has resulted in some deaths whose number is somewhere near 1600. No one is guessing how many the Russians and their "Paramilitaries" have killed.
Now non-military people will have to try to find out what happened only to have their findings ridiculed by those with vested interests.
At the end of the geo-political issues and the economic considerations and the propaganda there are, as per normal, dead people who may have been engaging in such subversive activities as going to the shops or mowing the lawns.

In war, I find, the first casualty is usually the bugger who jumped quickest when some other git screamed CHARGE!!!!.

The second casualty is usually the latter, but that dosn't seem to stop them for some reason......

That's quite the Black Adder-esque statement there, lol. But it rings true. It's like waving a big flag for any enemy soldier with a rifle.
