Conrad Black has been nicknamed "Lordy" by his fellow inmates, orders around his cellmate, lectures on American history, and has been promoted to work in the library, according to a story yesterday in London's Daily Mail.
The newspaper, which continues to take a lively interest in the life of Lord Black, ran the first prison photo of the former media tycoon, which it said was taken in the exercise area of the Coleman Federal Correction Complex in Florida.
<snip>
"Conrad remains very snobbish, despite having the same daily routine as all the other prisoners," the source told the Daily Mail. "He said he was shocked by how uneducated most of his fellow inmates were."
<snip>
Inside the prison, Lord Black has apparently created a "small fiefdom," regularly lecturing prisoners and guards on American history and politics, and orders around his cellmate as his "gofer and cleaner."

:lol: Even when he gets sent to prison, Black is still his old arrogant self. Still playing the lord game. Love it.

"He said he was shocked by how uneducated most of his fellow inmates were."
:) The irony, exposed for all, is that his "shock" is itself an uneducated response. What the hell did he think? That prison would be chock-full with wealthy, elitist Lords playing the victim card, as he and his wife have so eloquently done?
And I'm not surprised that he fancies himself leader of the pack, of sorts: this type of power-hungry elite tends to think this way.

True. I think the proverb from my sig fits well here
Italian proverb: At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go back in the same box!
Only Black hasn't seemed to quite realize that yet, even though he's back in the same box.

As if the fellow inmates aren't suffering enough, they have to get Black blowharding his version of history. This is torture!! But I guess someone has to read his hagiography of Nixon, (http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2007/jul/07/featuresreviews.guardianreview10) so he can read it to everyone at night to put them to sleep.

Maybe he'll teach all his fellow inmates their GED. :rolleyes:
Seriously though, it sounds like he's coping quite well and the appointment to the library has to have him pleased as punch.

I think it would be interesting to 'study' under Lord Black. He has quite the gifted intellect (albeit slightly arrogant and currently incarcerated) and a ferocious appetite for history.

There's a lot smarter people than black.
His intellect is, at any rate, tainted somewhat by his power-sycophancy view of history. He's basically a commissar.

Never said he was the smartest man on the planet and yes he does yearn towards power and worship at it's alter, look at his career. That being said he has a 'unique' view of the world and is very interesting to talk to.

Well, I'm sure he's not Satan on his Throne of Writhing Cobras. :)
I just find him insufferable. His wife, too (who is also quite smart).

I think you have to get past the arrogance (which is constantly at full volume in public) and the tendancy towards verbose pronouncements laced with language most university english majors wouldn't understand.
His wife is another story, I've never met her but she tends to grate on me; which is saying alot, I tend to be rather diplomatic and can get along with almost anyone.

Yes, I've seen a few of them reprinted down here, in some publication whose name escapes me.
It's well-written, usually hardcore right-wing stuff.
