I think my favorite is the faked moon landing. I don't believe it at all, but I get I kick out of the people who do. It's pretty amusing.

9/11 was not done by the arabs; to think so is racist and only proves that you are under the control of the fascist neo-cons. in reality, 9/11 was done by the israelies, under the supervision of Cheney and Bush. this was to A) allow bush to look like he's in charge B) give him an excuse to invade other countries which would C) kick off a war between the US and islam that would D) allow the dirty stinking fascist jews to take all of the holy land from the poor innocent palestinian which has the effect of E) ushering in the End Times, which is Bush's ultimate goal as a fundamentalist christian fanatic.

:D this one is one of my favorites.

personally, however, i am receptive to an atlantis theory. ahwell, we all have our quirks:p

that is a good one, i think that got started because of the five israeli's filming the 9-11 on the roof top and laughing and then the film was ditched for an old palestinian film and the media played it over and over.
the best way to stop this conspiracy theory is produce the tape of the israeli's on the roof,
sort of like a modern version of fiddler on the roof,

Shoot fire and save matches -- heck if the earth was round we would always be driving up hill -- right?

My favorite conspiracy is that 2000 years ago there existed some sect leader who is proclaimed to be the son of God and was killed because the Jews (it's always the Jews) conspired against him.

My favourite theory is not so much of a conspiracy, more a conspiracy of silence from the powers that be.

http://www.shford.fslife.co.uk/ShingleSt/

I have physical proof that these events happened and I'm related to one of the people involved, but the government has decided that it is the public interest to shroud the facts in The Official Secrets act until a time when the vast majority of eye witnesses will be long gone.
When the full facts finally come into the public domain, it will change how we see the history of WWII and reveal the traitors who were prepared to do anything to save their own skin.

One of my favorites, which I hadn't even known about until quite recently, was the story of the USS Liberty (http://www.ussliberty.org/). It was a US signal ship that was deliberately attacked by the government of Israel while in international waters, in 1967, costing 34 US lives. Theories as to why Israel attacked its ally abound, but the most likely seems to be that they were afraid the Liberty would find out about a massacre being committed in a town near the coast. What's even more interesting is how almost nobody seems to know about this. It would seem like one of the more significant events in the Arab/Israeli conflicts, from a US perspective, but you won't find it in history books. You'd think it might get brought up occasionally in discussions of that ongoing conflict and consideration of who deserves our support, but it never seems to. The most interesting conspiracies are not those that are (not very well) concealed behind obvious locked doors, but those that are "hidden in plain sight" by simply not talking about them.

I agree with up2date. Over on Pravda (from which I am another voluntary exile) there were NUMEROUS people that strongly believe that the moon landing was fake. Their arguments were as hilarious as they were fallacious.

That one has to be my favorite! Creation "Science" is definitely #2 though. ;)

Well, there are some creationists here and there already is some discussion about it. Join the club I would say. ;)

I would join the club if the Creationists could ever come up with something NEW. Usually they just trot out the same old tired stuff that has already been refuted 100 times. Have they tried the "2nd law of thermodynamics" junk yet? LOL!

fav: That in the background the governments of the world aren't planning the end to all life on earth. Of course we know this isn't true and the exact opposite is in progress..but not in the background, it's on the news!

This is a very tough question for me because I love conspiracy theories. I suppose the Proctor & Gamble as the corporate face of Satan would be more of an urban legend than a qualified conspiracy theory, but I personally believe they started it themselves to cover the real conspiracy; using soap causes body odor, requiring the use of a deodorant!

However, I think my favorite conspiracy theory so far is Prince Charles as the Anti-Christ (http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/n1678.cfm) .

Harold Holt's dissapearance.

He was an Australian Prime Minister who went swimming at the beach and no one ever saw him again. His body was never found. True story! **cue spooky music**

If the earth was round and you were facing south then it would be downhill.

According to geometrics: yes, it's always curved up. According to physics : no, your potential energy remains the same.

Why is it ludicrous and unbelievable? Simply because it is your opinion doesn't make it so.

Sure he did. Look, I'm not saying that I believe Bush let it happen, but I do believe he could have stopped it and I don't think that he let it happen is completely ridiculous right away.

That the Masons control the world.

The Masons are a men's club where men go to drink beer and shoot pool.

That any of those bubbas are in control of the world is highly doubtful.
